i have two network drives on my server which all users connect to.

i have a folder that i need users to be able to access in the the background (it saves repository info and menu info)

i have read that if you put a $ mark after the folders name, that it becomes hidden. however, this isn't working. any ideas?

im using server 2003.

The $ trick only works on the shared folder, it won't work on any sub-folders.

The $ only hides a share, it doesn't work on directories themselves. You could change the file/directory hidden attribute. If the users don't have "Show Hidden Files" turned on, they will not be able to see it. If they know it is there, they could still access it though.

D'oh, thanks Joe. The share name is what needs the $, not the folder name.
