We have a very large and complex front end to a SQL database in Access. Is there a way that the users can use the front end, and update/edit/delete...data, but now be able to view ANYTHING in design view. We are having a problem with users accidentally getting to design view and moving a text box or something.

Thanks

Click Tools, startup, and then uncheck almost all of the options there. Then go and remove all of the menu bars by right clicking on them and hitting customise. Set them to not display. Backup the frontend before you do this however, because sometimes you can lock yourself out of getting into design view.

After you have done that and restarted the database you can press f11 and then CRTL + f11 to see the menu bar, as well as the database window.

Hope this helps

Of course if your users find out about F11.....

Sounds like your users aren't as troublesome as mine. You said they "accidentally" got into design view. Mine were actively looking for a way into design view so they could create their own forms, reports, etc. But, of course they didn't know what they were doing so they also changed a few table structures, deleted some forms, reports etc. :-(

If you want a way to absolutely lock out most users from the database design, read this faq. Faq181-1021. Assuming the users aren't knowledgable enough to write their own VBA scripts, this should keep them out. Maq B-)
