I have several fields which are calculated within sharepoint which I do not wish users to see.

However when they click on the link to the item to view it, it shows them all the fields.

Is there anyway I can hide certain fields ?

I may of misunderstood, but can you go to 'Manage Columns and Settings' of the list then edit view and untick the calculated field?

I have done this, but when they click on the hyper link to view all the details it shows the calculated fields ?

And you've done it to all the views of that list?

yeah .. basically there is a summary on the front page like this,

Reference Application Problem Summary

When they click on the reference it takes them into the detail of the problem, but it also shows the calculated fields, which I do not want the users to see ?

Any ideas ?

Ah yes, see what you mean, I never noticed. Sorry not sure, there is some bright people in this forum I'm sure someone can help.

In Sharepoint you cannot hide columns from the "View Item" view. However do the users need access to the item level view? Here is an idea but not sure if its the way your are looking to go.

Create your view and when doing so uncheck "reference(linked to item with edit menu)" and check "reference"

Now the users will not be able to click on Reference to see all the details of the list item.

I also would change the style for the view to Boxed for a nicer look.
