I'm experieced with Crystal Reports but new to Impromptu.

I want to hide or unhide the details section of a report based on user input. For example based on the user selecting "Detail" or "Summary" on a text prompt.

I know how to do this in Crystal but I haven't been able to find a way to do it in Impromptu, or at least not the same as Crystal does it via a conditional suppress.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

goof,

You can do this with conditional formatting, using a condition based on a user prompt. The trick with the detail section is that the visible headers and footers must be set to either a static width or to parent, or else they will collapse to a zero width with the detail is hidden. This is because the default for their width is the width of the visible columns.

Hope this helps,

So if I understand you correctly you hide the fields in the detail section, not the section itself (as i would have done in Crystal).

Is that correct?

Thanks.

Actually, cursor to the left side of the first detail data column, look for the cursor to change to a white horizontal arrow, then left-click to select the entire row. Then apply the conditional format with 'Hidden' as the applied style.
