I want an option where i could hide text but on an expand/collapse kind of style, much like html formatted text can be hidden/shown,rather than mark hidden under font.Is this at all possible?

oops sorry forgot to mention,it's Microsoft Word 2007.

Can this be done?

What are you trying to accomplish with this feature?

More flexibility upon editing documents I've created. Some times i want to hide paragraphs, lines or whole chapters,so i can focus on specific areas of my document.Just that.

Check out the Outline view

Check out sub documents

You mean like create levels and such?

Ok i will take your suggestions into consideration, and if they are not flexible enough i may ask for further recommendations.

Although they kinda look like overkill. All i just need is a collapse expand type of formatting so i wont go into complicating things.

Thank you for responding to my issue.

Search in help on Collapse

What about something similar to Javascripts 'togglediv' that allows you to expand or shrink paragraphs/text/forms etc. when clicking on a header? People use togglediv in .asp & HTML, but I need this to work in a Word Document.

Does anyone know how to do this in Word 2000 or later without Sub Documents?

Thanks!

sqleptical,

"Does anyone know how to do this in Word 2000 or later without Sub Documents?"

did you "Search in help on Collapse?"

Seems to me that that covers the field.

Searching help led me to using the Outline view.

Unfortunately, using the Outline view is not available when dealing with forms, as the form needs to be protected to utilize the Form functionality of Combo Boxes, Text Boxes etc. Once the Form is protected, Outline view is no longer available.

It's quite possible however that your solution would work fine as a solution for trickartist's original question in this thread.
