Hide Public Folders from GAL 1

I'm relatively new to Exchange which is probably why i can't seem to find this. What I'm trying to do is hide a few of the standard GAL lists such as "public folders" and "all users" from the standard window for users to choose from. I see in exchange where i can right click the lists and delete but i wasn't sure if this was a good idea to do. I'm looking for some professional suggestions. Is it possible to just hide the lists?
