Is it possible to hide a field in a table?

I have searched tek-tips and google and can find no answer to this.

I want to do this as I intend to distribute an mde to external parties and there are fields I would rather them not see.

I realise I could create a new table and hide the table, but if I could hide the field it would be easier.

I know hiding tables does not secure access to the table, but that's not a big problem as the users have no interest in the underlying table structure and the risk of malicious damage has been determined to be minimal.

I can think of other solutions, but if anyone has an answer to this question it would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Gavin

I don't think there's any way to hide a single field in the table. I think the only way to restrict MDE users from the table is to implement user level security (source: Helping Protect Source Code with an MDE)

Hi gavin,

Question: Why on earth are you allowing any user to view any table?

If they are trusted to view tables, then hiding a field is pointless.
