Hi guys
You have already helped a great deal with a map I am writing...one more question?
I want to overlay the map with shaded areas denoting certain demographic differences. Like a real map may have an overlay for high crime rates , rainfall, education, population density etc.
I am thinking that these areas will be denoted by a new layer with a shaded graphic covering the area so designated.
Is there a way in Flash to get these layers to be made visible but only when called upon?

Thanks!

Those areas (shape and/or textures)can be inserted in movie clips, positioned on their own layers over the actual map.
You can simply then make them visible at will, and even change the alpha setting to give a transparency effect...

my_clip._visible = false;

my_clip._visible = true;

my_clip._alpha = 35; // 35%

You could even have it fade in or fade out rather pop in and pop out.

How do you fade it out??? I need that code! Tell me please!
