Hide a subreport

I have a Main report and a subreport. I am passing a shared variable from the subreport to the main report only problem is that subreport is visible on mainreport. The subreport will grow making the report larger. I know that if you supress the subreport or hide it, the value of the variable will be 0.. Does anyone know how to prevent the subreport from showing on the main report but at the same time share the variable?

Have you tried unselecting the can grow feature on the subreport?

Try going into your subreport and suppressing all of the sections. Then go to the section of your main report where the subreport is at and make that subreport very very small (and make sure the "can grow" on the subreport is turned off)

this will make it so that the subreport still EXISTS, its still on your main report, but doesnt show and the shared variable will come through.
