I posted the following question in the Java Script forum but have had no takers.
This may be due to the question having CSS impications. can you help?

I've tried to incorperate the Slide and hide function I found here into my website.

I found it works well to a point. the div seems to slide to zero hight as intended, but it remains visible and the result is overlapping text.

Do I need coloured background to incoporate this function? the page I was trying to use this on is
Many thanks for your time.

Since your post 3 days ago, what have you attempted as a means of resolving your problem? Have you attempted to contact the author of the original script to resolve your problem (with his code)? He offers fully working demos - do these work for you?

You could remove all the stuff in your CSS and HTML bit by bit until only his code is left (thereby identifying the cause).

Why not start from scratch and code this simple effect yourself? If nothing else you know the functionality you need - and understanding the requirements is usually the hardest part!

If you are unable to code this yourself, then consider looking for a less complex solution to your problem. You could also consider prototype/scriptaculous framework as a simple solution to delivering this kind of effect (as well as many many others).

I didn't respond to your post in the Javascript forum because I don't have the free time to spend helping out debugging and implementing someone else's code at the moment... and I felt that my suggestions (to contact the author etc) were kind of obvious.

Cheers,
Jeff

Make sure your web page and css validates properly against the doctype you have chosen - before you attempt to debug a problem!
