we are using ibm db2 in our bank for trade innovation application. Today i tried to configure the backup procedure directly to the tape device using the below mentioned command but it is giving some error to mount the source or desti. to the device. how i can do that pls help me.

BACKUP DB TID1416 USER TRADE USING TRADE TO \\.\TAPE0

Mount your tap device and then run backup command.

What's ur OS ? You may need to use OS commands to mount your tap.

we are using winnt server 4
can u pls tell me how to mount the tape drive

In windows NT, Go to control panel -->> tape devices
and try to detect your tape device.

Once you can detect your tap device I think you need to map tap device.I am not sure for this step.

Also,there is backup utility in administration tools with which you can backup your disk drives directly to tape.

First try to detect tape drive and check if you can backup other files from backup utility to tape.If works then try for db2 backup command.
