hi there, pls help me with this vba problam in excel

i have a first column with numbers from 1 -1000
and in the second column i need it to indicate yes
if the number on the 1st column is prime, no if it's not.
how can i do it? pls help
forthermore how can i sum all of the numbers 1- 1000 in the first column without using the function sum?

Re: your problem summing 1 to 1000 in Excel without using the SUM function

it is said that Johann Carl Friedrich Gauß (* April 30, 1777 in Braunschweig [aka Brunswick], Germany; † February 23, 1855 in Göttingen, Germany) solved the summing problem at school when he was nine years old. When told to sum the numbers from 1 to 100 Gauß summed them in pairs (1 + 100, 2 + 99, …, 50 + 51) which simplifies to 50 * 101. In German this is often nicknamed "the little Gauß".

As this is a truly academic approach to your problem your post m u s t be trying to make others do your homework.
