hi,
I've been searching through threads dealing with how to create seamless pattern fills. I've been having a similar problem. I see some threads offering solutions, but I'm unable to get them to work for my problem.

I'm trying to make a "brick" fill, with rows of squares arranged so that the end of each brick falls at the center of the brick in the row above or below it.

I've tried several approaches, including trying to place the pattern inside a transparent square to control how it tiles, but I'm not getting the results I hoped for.

I was wondering, is there a specific "size" to an individual "tile" in a pattern fill? How do they fill an object, from a corner of the filled object? Or from an underlying grid? If so, is the underlying grid dependent on the size of the grid in your "preferences"?

I know this is a pretty general/vague question, but I'm hoping a better general undersatnding of how pattern fills work will enable me to design my pattern for seamless tiling. Any general guidance or referral to helpful FAQ's/URLs is appreciated.

I'm using AI9.

Thanks,
sundemon
