Is there someting like a trial version, and if there are where can I find it? Or if there aren't could one buy a one user licence for personal use?

LegacyJ has trial versions of PERCobol that can be downloaded from their web site. You asked a pricing question which can be better handled by LegacyJ. Prices are competitive with other COBOL compilers.

Hi,

Thane Hubble authored a COBOL text called "Teach Yourself COBOL in 24 Hours", published by SAMS. It comes w/a CD-Rom that contains a student version of Fujitsu's compiler.

I got a copy @ half.com for under $12.
