Hi,

Is there any way to run some rsh commands to a remote computer without DNS definition.

I can ping, but fail to run any rcp/rsh (rshd: 0826-826 The host name for your address is not known.) "Long live king Moshiach !"

Hi Levw,
add name of your box to the files $HOME.rhost and /etc/hosts.equiv on the remote host to which you wish rsh, rlogin...

Hi,

You don't have physical access to these computers ?
Well, could we call that some kind of "lack of security" if we could execute rsh commands on computers where we aren't trusted ? ;-)
Can't you even telnet to it with the login used for rsh command ?

Actualy,

I could have accessed these computers - they are all spread around 2 floors of my company.

What I'm doing is a survailance script that is going over the list of hostnames+IPs ,copies the test script to all (rcp).
The script checks errpt for some specific errors.
The original computer copies (rcp),then runs (rsh)this script on the remote computers, then eventualy brings all logs back (rcp).

All this works nicely on computers which occasionally have the DNS defined, and failes if not.
All I need is the way to rcp the /etc/resolve.conf from my local station to all computers in test,so that they respond to rsh/rcp.

I run rsh with "-l sciroot" user, which does NOT have a password in our environment anyhow. "Long live king Moshiach !"
