Hi
I'm having problems with Dell 2500's that have had their shipped SEAGATE DDS4 drive replaced with a SONY DDS4. Now have problems with tape drive, in that unable to read/write data - though unload, reset, rewind will work. Unsure of whether to try updating driver for alad - current version is SCO OpenServer 5.1.0/Unix 5.0.5Eb 98/07/27; is this worth updating? Would it also be worth deleting and readding the driver in hardware/kernel manager? Worthwhile readding the device in /dev/?
Other than that, the only other issue I can see is a vector conflict between the percraid controller and the host adaptor (reported from hwconfig -hc). Though I have other servers reporting the same conflict - and I have no issues with them (at least not that I'm aware of!).

Since no one else seems to have responded to your post, I'll give you my two cents worth.

I seriously doubt that your problem is related to the alad SCSI controller driver. Updating it to the latest version probably won't solve anything.

It probably would be prudent however to remove the old tape device and then install the new tape drive. You can do this by running "mkdev tape" and choosing the remove option.
