Hi,

I'm attempting to customize the htaccess file to reflect the design theme of our company website.

I called our provider and they helped me over the phone. This is what I added at the end of the existing code:

ErrorDocument 404 /password_protected.html

It sits in the root directory and I've uploaded the htaccess file in ascii format and, then, uploaded the html file (I've tried .htm as well) and I still do not get my page. Here's the link (click cancel)
After two phone calls, my providers techsupport has stated that they don't troubleshoot code for customers. I partially understand, but it seems that this could be a typically request. Anyhow, can anyone provide some insight on the issue?

Thanks,
DanH

sleipnir214,

Sorry, yes, it has a "." such as htaccess. Did anything else look suspicious?

Thanks,
Daniel

Thanks sleipnir214, changing it to 401 did the job!

Another related question. Now that it directs to the password_protected.htm page it neglects to display the company logo (gif).

I've even created another directory (unsecured) and pasted the htm and .gif file inside it. As a result, it views just fine through a browser.

Is there a problem with displaying images within a password protected directory?

Your insight is appreciated.

Yeah, since you have to supply a username and a password to access the files. //Daniel

Thanks daniel...I think I deserve a special award for that one.

If you hear a big thud, it's my IQ.
