hi iam new just like a bit of info

hi iam running xp and have just installed mysql 5.0, all i have is mysql cmd and mysql wizard. i take it theres no gui with mysql 5.0.

what i like to know if were do i start, i havent a clue about mysql, so any sites that offer noobs startup tips would be nice as in the faqs the links are dead. thx

There are GUIs for use with MySQL. It's just that like Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2 and other database server systems, the GUI is not part of the product but something separate. This is as opposed to a database engine product like Access, where the GUI is part of the app. Look on the MySQL site: there are a couple of GUI tools. There are also 3rd-party products available: Google mysql gui

There is a GUI, its called MYSQL Administrator, and it is available for download Free from the mysql website.
You might also find SQLYog to be a very complete GUI. and also FREE.
