Hi!

I was wondering if it's possible to execute a command for a UNIX station (Solaris), first loggin in remotely (something like Telnet) from a web page, from a PC. Strange, huh? :)

What I need to do is the following. I have a UNIX account. I'm using the Calendar program (similar to MS Outlook, Calendar sharing), which allows other users to see my chedule/calendar and plan their appointments accordingly.
Is it possible for someone log on to a UNIX station, execute the calendar programe and check my shcedule, all of this over the Net, and from a PC.
If u need any other info, ill be happy to rpovide it. but i need to know if that's possible.
Thank you!

In html this cant be done. You might be able to with other languages such as Perl and PHP. You might want to post there.

Wouldn't they just Telnet?

It is quite possible to host a Java applet or an ActiveX control in a web page that can Telnet to the Unix box, or be an X terminal, or whatever.

But the funny part is that Unix is one of the most web-unfriendly environments there is! Usually they want you to log on using another Unix box with the same shell, etc. etc. unless your application is accessable by Telnet or something.
