Hi, I want to remove the "¦" on

I want to remove the "|" on the end of each record. How will i do it?.

CAROLINA|100000000.00|A000000003|10.0000000|11/05/2002|018|
|40000000.00|A000000004|10.0000000|11/05/2002|018|
CITY|70000000.00|A000000002|15.0000000|11/06/2002|011|
CITY|70000000.00|A000000002|15.0000000|11/06/2002|011|

It's not an awk solution but you can just use sed...

sed s/\|$// file1 > file2
