Hi

I have installed Solaris 8 on 420R. I have given the swap file system 2GB, but I am seeing another swap file sytem with /var/run with 2GB.

Can any one help what is /var/run.

the out put is like this :/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 1489367 948726 481067 67% /
/proc 0 0 0 0% /proc
fd 0 0 0 0% /dev/fd
mnttab 0 0 0 0% /etc/mnttab
swap 2918880 0 2918880 0% /var/run
swap 2918896 16 2918880 1% /tmp
/dev/dsk/c0t1d0s1 15337103 9 15183723 1% /d002
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s4 15388143 9 15234253 1% /d001
/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s3 482455 464 433746 1% /export/home

Thanks in advance

It is the equivalent of /tmp, but is used for system processes.

/tmp is now used for non system processes.
