Hi, I have a Portmaster 3 that I am trying to setup a console on so that I can set up the ethernet settings. I originally tried setting it up using Hyperterm on a windows box, but I couldn't get that to work (I have the dip switches setup right on portmaster). I currently have the portmaster setup on my rack and I am trying to access it in command line on a solaris box but I can't seem to get the commands right (mostly I tried just variations on the tip command)... The portmaster is connected to the box in the "B" port. Maybe there is an easier way to set up the console on the Portmaster? If you have any ideas, please let me know...

I am looking to buy a port master 3 fo my internet service I would like to know where you bought it our where would you could find one.

the first step would be to use the hyper term to set up an ethernet address for the PM 3... ensure the switches are in the correct position for the hyper term session.. as described in the manual...

set up console settings as described in the manual.. 9600, Xon/Xoff e.t.c...

once u have a terminal session, enter this command:

set ethernet address x.x.x.x

where x.x.x.x is the IP address u have assigned it..

then type this command:

save all

that should save your changes.... return the switches at the back to where they were before, then reboot the access server.... u can then telnet into the portmaster thereafter and administer it...

i would also advise that your download the PM Console Manager from Lucent's web site... it will give u a more intuitive approach toward configuring the server...
