Hi,
I am runnig Windows 2000 OS on a pretty nice desktop system. I loaded it with MS Office 98 Premium a while back. Recently, I found that I have lost CD1 and I need it to update certain files. I can't seem to export my Outlook calender data as well as missing other plug-ins that I can not now access. I now have Office XP and would like to update my Office Pack with it. I have 2 questions.
1) Do I need to uninstall Office 98 before I install Office XP or will the installer be smart enough to just update the needed files?
2) Will the new install maintain my data in Outlook, Word, excel, etc... or will the install cause my data to be corupted?

I think you should give us the right version of your old Office before anyone advises because Office 98 was built for Mac and not for Windows. Likely, you have Office 97. Open any of the apps (except Outlook) and hit Help-About.

1) No Office XP will overwrite your 97 install

2) It shouldn't make any difference to your data files, however to be on the safe side backup all your data first on to a CD

If it were me, I would install it to a different folder anyway, which is what you need to do if you were going to run BOTH versions of Office.

I put mine in C:\OfficeXP

Keep in mind.
If you don't uninstall 97, and decide to uninstall it later, you'll probably have to reinstall XP...
