Hi

I am printing a Word 2000 document to a PostScript file via an Apple LaserWriter Plus driver, saving the file as "test.prn"

When Adobe Distiller converts "test.prn" to a PDF format file, the colours in the Word text are converted to black.

Data printed from a VFP report retains original colours.

What am I missing?

TIA

Chris :)

prn files can't save information like color, at least not to my knowledge.

Why aren't you going right from Word to PDF?

Thanks for the response

Why aren't you going right from Word to PDF?

Wish I knew how? Please advise

Chris :)

I realised in retrospect that you may have assumed I have the Adobe Acrobat suite.

I don't and am using Adobe Distiller 3.02 which comes as part of the Adobe PageMaker suite - if I had Adobe Acrobat I wouldn't need to ask the question!

If you have some other way of going direct to PDF from Word, please advise

Chris :)

I don't know, except for PDF Writer or Acrobat.

Well, in any case, I think you're out of luck then. A prn file is little more than a text file, I don't think you're going to get it to hold more than black text.

I also tried printing directly to a PostScript file ie "C:\PostScript Files\MyFile.ps" by setting "C:\PostScript Files\MyFile.ps" to be the printer port with the same result, ie color missing.

Thanks for your input anyway

Chris :)
