Hi,
How to decrease the file system on AIX ?

I appreciated for your help

karan

You can't just decrease the size of a filesystem like you can increase it with the 'chfs' command. Usuall you need to create a new filesystem of the size you need and copy the data from the old filesystem to the new one then blow away the old filesystem. An infinite number of monkey typing at an infinite number of keyboards will eventually populate the internet.

Hi Karan,
It is also possible to do a mksysb if your filesystems
are on rootvg and then restore that mksysb to reduce the
size of your filesystems. This is an alternative if your
current configuration doesn't have the space to create a
new filesystem to copy the files from the old to. When you
do the restore, there is a "Shrink File Systems" question
that defaults to "No" but can be changed to "Yes".
