Hi guys,

If you have time can a few of you guys check out a perl script for me??
I just installed an "Interactive Fiction" script at
and i'm having trouble getting it working.
Theres no stories posted yet but if you can check the right links, members/register/post etc

I get two main problems Error 500 and also it tries to download the file rather than actually run the script.

Any and all comments greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!!

Hi,

Registered, no problems for any of the 3 links. Played around a bit and got no error messages at all.

Hi,

i know shag all about these scripts too!

Yep i checked permissions on all the files, they are set right. the problem is i had to change the extensions from .cgi to .pl just to get it to work, which included modifying all the files! But it still wont work for me.
works for you, you want it?? :)))

Hahaha, na thanks. I have to do the odd script here at work. I don't write em, just modify one that the techie guy wrote for a form. I know there is a way of finding out where the errors are by typing something in your browser. The techie guy know's how to do it but he's not here today. If you're still having this problem next week let me know.

Thanks mate! I have a feeling though, i'll end up deleting the feckin thing!! Or changing back to the old version!

Thx for your help!

Hey, I just viewed it...no matter what option I choose from the drop-down list, my first choice keeps popping up...
When I click on NEW STORY, the first time I get an error, the next time the form comes up...the same happens with REGISTER, but MEMBERS worked fine the first time... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it. Think i'll down-grade to the old version which was working fine.

Wullie, congrats Tipmaster!

Cian,

You can join the Perl form and they can straighten it out for you (great guys they are). I would ask you to post the code here but I think that would be inappropriate for this group.

Post it in the Perl forum. MSB [peace]

Hi Zumie,

thanks for the suggestion, it might have been more appropriate if i asked my question there in the first place.

Unfortunatly I can't post the code, its copyrighted "someone else", and theres about 10 files which make up the script!

Might just ask their advice though.

thx again
