Hi gang!

A quick question about ppp. I am trying to use the menus to set up dialup access to the internet. I can succeed about once per 3 systems. I cannot seem to find the common thread that is missing between the systems. I use the netconf and add ppp0 then set the parameters such as /dev/modem (already linked to /dev/ttyS1), hardware flow control, init string, phone, login and password. When I try to connect either through tah menu or using ifup ppp0 at a #, the modem initializes but does not dial. I looked at the ifup-options file and it appears to be correct. What am I missing?

In the folder /var/log/"something?" there is a log file that the ppp0 will log errors to. What you can do is start a terminal window, and type the command

># tail -f something

where something is the name and path of the log file, and it will show you line by line what the script reports. If you still have trouble, post the results from this log file back to this group. I've had the same problem at home, but don't exactly remember what I did. Also, when you post the log, pot which version of linux your're using (I am assuming RH6.x)
