Hi folks,

I am trying to create a single filesystem /backup within the already created logical volume LV01 but got an error message? I am a bit confused here, have I done something wrong or should I change the settings?

This is the settings for the new filesystem /backup within jfs for already created logical volume Lv01

[Entry Fields]
* LOGICAL VOLUME name lv01 +
* MOUNT POINT [/backup]
Mount AUTOMATICALLY at system restart? yes +
PERMISSIONS read/write +
Mount OPTIONS [] +
Start Disk Accounting? no +
Fragment Size (bytes) 4096 +
Number of bytes per inode 4096 +
Allocation Group Size (MBytes) 8 +

LV01 charactertics is

LV IDENTIFIER: 00016001a8daafb5.1 PERMISSION: read/write
VG STATE: active/complete LV STATE: closed/syncd

MAX LPs: 512 PP SIZE: 64 megabyte(s)
COPIES: 1 SCHED POLICY: parallel
LPs: 135 PPs: 135
STALE PPs: 0 BB POLICY: relocatable
INTER-POLICY: minimum RELOCATABLE: yes
INTRA-POLICY: middle UPPER BOUND: 32
MOUNT POINT: N/A LABEL: None
MIRROR WRITE CONSISTENCY: on
EACH LP COPY ON A SEPARATE PV ?: yes

The error message I recieved from smitty is as follows

COMMAND STATUS

Command: failed stdout: yes stderr: no

Before command completion, additional instructions may appear below.

0516-404 allocp: This system cannot fulfill the allocation request.
There are not enough free partitions or not enough physical volumes
to keep strictness and satisfy allocation requests. The command
should be retried with different allocation characteristics.
0516-822 mklv: Unable to create logical volume.
crfs: 0506-902 Cannot create logical volume.

Hope you can help me here, thanking you all in advance.

Regards

Katherine

Do a keyword search on "allocp" , you'll get a list of problems you are encountering

What does this word allocp do? So should i run it from root as #allocp ?

Regards
