Hi Everyone:

I have encountered a very weird problem. The problem is with my output file. I am receiving the following msg:

Runtime error 3163
The field is too small to accept the data you attempted to add. Try inserting or pasting less data.

The file VB is complaining about has been running unchanged for over a year. As I was testing a pgm change that I have been testing for 2 weeks the error occurred. The error is pointing to an original field (last name). The field is defined as 25 bytes long and the value to be inserted is "Holly".

This is frustrating, I am just about done testing this pgm which is over 4,000 lines and this occurs.

Any suggestions?

Be well

My first suggestion would be to import the db to a new db and see if the problem persists.

Some time my stupidity is so astounding I need to convey it to Tek-Tips. Before I moved the databse I decided to relink the tables. Voila!

Thank so much Paul, may the stupid virus never attack you.

Take Care

I run Norton Anti Virus regularly but it still sneaks thru occasionally. Glad you figured it out.
