Hi everybody,
Need help with a wierd problem:
I just finished upgrading a friends PPPoE access manager (enternet)and for some reason IE 5.5 always crashes when loading (gives an "illegal operation" message).
The PPPoE AM installation completed without any problems, all devices are where they should be in network neibourhood and seem to be functioning properly. (PPPoE adaptor)
The PPPoE loads fine, logs on to the network and authenticates the username and password but as soon as IE or any other application that requires the net - it crashes with an "illegal operation" message.
I've uninstalled everything - the PPPoE software and the alcatel usb driver/software and reinstalled the previous version of the PPPoE AM - even removed all the reg settings - same problem!!!
I've also tried repairing IE without any success.
I noticed that if AM is not loaded IE will load properly (no net connection of course) but as soon as AM is active all net apps fail (IE. Kazaa, Outlook....)!
One thing in particular is the fact that while reinstalling the PPPoE software it gets to a point where it needs to tests DNS and thats where it fails (gives error 185 - help files claims to not be able to contact DNS servers).
Can't ping anything either.
I've tried entering the ISP's DNS servers manually - still no luck.
Does anyone have an ideas on what could be going on?
Please help!
