If my monitor can display resolutions of 1920x1200 does that mean it is "HD Ready"? As the vertical resolution is far above 720...

No, it's not "HD Ready". HD Ready indicates that you can plug an HD video source straight into the device and it will work. I'd bet your monitor has to plug into your pc, not a HD video source.

Put an HD video capture card in your pc and sure, the monitor will show it.
