Hi, dear.
I bought 200gb hard drive(WD) and fomatted to fat32.
I stored all the data to new hard drive(200gb). Last night, everything looked fine. I never turn off the compudter...
Next day, when I look up the coMputer, the hard drive's status is unfomated like raw file without any erro.. so i could not open this... reboot the computer... samething... double clik the hard drive , message pop up like want to fomat?.. Hell no... Am I lost all the data.?
So today , I am going to send this to recovery centa..
but I am so upset about this hard drive... what happen to hard drive..
How to use this hard drive? Do you want me to use as a two hard drive (100gb+100gb).. Is it better solution?.... I am relly nervous that happen again.. It is kind of nightmare...
Please help me..
Many thx.

This happened to me TWICE! with my Maxtor 200Gb hard drive, and I too lost all my data.

The reason was down to overheating. My drive was getting VERY hot, since my disaster I've put two 5cm fans on the back of my case drawing air out, and a big 8cm fan on the front drawing air into the case. This bigger fan blows right across the hard drive and it's been like that for months with no more problems.

Hard drives are getting much larger in capacity, but cooling seems to be overlooked. I'd be sure this is what caused your problem.

Going for two hard drives in a RAID1 array (mirrored) would also be wise. You can't be too safe!
