Hi,

Could someone give me the exact difference between the target table options in the session, Such as Insert, Update(update as update), Update(as insert), Update(else insert), Delete, Truncate table.

Even though info is given in the help file and I understand to an extent. I would like to have more clarrity on this through this forum.

Thanks
tech

Insert: Does a hard insert with possible failure if there is a primary key violation.
Update: Updates a record if a primary key is defined.
Delete: Deletes a record based on already existing primary key in target.
Truncate: Truncates the table (delete all) before writing to the target.
Update else insert:
If primary key exists then update the record else insert new record.
Update as update: update records if primary key already exists , else do nothing.

There a just few combinations you need:

Insert/Truncate:
When filling table with new data (mode = insert)

Insert else update / Delete
Running a update strategy (mode = update)
