Hi Clive,

Yeah, you can prefix your code with [*code] and suffix it with [*/code]. Don't type the "*", I use it here so that it will be printed. Don't worry about how the code looks when you cut & paste it into the msg box, the [*code] will make it right. To see how it will look when viewed in the forum, click the "preview post" button.

e.g.
[*code]
your code here
[*/code]

If you click the "preview post" button, you'll see info about all the bells & whistles you can use.

Hi Jack,
Thanks for the info. Presumbably the code tags cause the code to be rendered in a proportional font and following you advice I was able, for example, to copy and paste your code to caslan, in the date validation thread, into notepad where it was ok. However within the forum it was unreadable. Is that the way it is supposed to be?
Kind regards,
Clive

Hi Clive,

If I read you correctly, my code is unreadable in the "data validation" thread on your end. When I look at it in the thread, it looks OK.

If I'm reading you, that's a puzzlement. My PC skills approach zero, so maybe someone out there has an answer.

Jack

Yes Jack, you are reading me correctly. Tried upgrading my IE browser and upgrading to Win98 2nd edition all to no avail.

There is one other site where this happens, Hotjobs.com. Not a biggie as I have a work around, just curious.

Code:
Just a test

I put "Just a test" between code tags and it becomes unreadable in preview.

Wierd.

I have check marks beside emoticons/smileys and process TGML on the "Step 3 Options" line, directly above the "Submit Post" button. Do you?

Any suggestions out there?

Jack,

no suggestions, other then the "process TGML" check you mentioned, since i can read his

Code:
Just a test

just fine. But, does it work for me too...?

Regards,
Ronald.

Unchecking the, "process tgml" works to see my code when posting but does not help to see the code of others who have posted previously. I looked at the HTML and all that the
Code:
tags generate is <FONT FACE=monospace> and </font>, which works fine for me outside of the forum.
