hi
can somebody remember how on bsd-unix like sunOs 4.3.1
redirect printer output to a file, using /etc/printcap ??
thanks

How about doing a "man printcap" for help.

Perhaps something like:

/etc/printcap ... > file

it is possible to redirect output from a printer to a file, but you would have to specify the file, or use the printer id, and modify the interface for the printer manually, from what i can see.

in /etc/printcap just change the "device" from /dev/xxx to /directorysomewhere/filename.

ie ...:lp=/tmp/filethatgetsoverwritten:...

my be stanhubble is rigth (a * for you)
that it's (re)new, i will try it.
