Hi all, I have Avaya duplicated Definity System (MCC cabinet) running Avaya Communication Manager, ACM2.2.0 (R012i.02.0.111.4) that is showing mismatched software against SPE-standby (cabinet 1A) when “status system all” command is run and showing “No-License: Serial Number Mismatch,” “System Administration Is Blocked” when logging in. The above happened because a processor with R011i.03.2.536.1 software version was wrongly slotted in the system.

After I discovered this, I removed it and returned the right processor the one previously there running (R012i.02.0.111.4) software version which the Active SPE has and was there before and has been working albeit some IO-processor alarms which are raised due to NetCon circuit pack having issues which I replaced and not the Processor. The issue is, after returning it I discovered that it installed itself with the R011i.03.2.536.1 software and picked that processor’s serial number hence the alarm.

I would really appreciate if you could help for the system has blocked all administration into it. Commands like “add” and “change” are not there. The only change command that we can access is “change system-parameters maintenance”

Would also appreciate if one of you could help me with Avaya Definity orange flash card with R012i.02.0.111.4 software load to upgrade the processor that is having the lesser software version please, thank you in advance

Hi Guys,

It's my believe that there must be someone out there who can be of help to me please
I really need help on this issue guys, thank you in advance

If you put the correct processor back in and it was the standby SPE, it should have reloaded the standby with the R012i.02.0.111.4 load as well as the original serial number. If the active SPE is the wrong load, you would have major software corruption and save translations would be blocked so you cannot save and corrupt your flash card(s).

Hi AvayaTier3,

Thanks for your quick reply
The Standby SPE is the one with issues
Am able to save translations with no problem but this is only to the Active SPE
May I know which set of commands that I should issue against the standby-SPE please
Is it

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
busy spe-standby, refresh spe-standby, release spe-standby, refresh spe-standby,
test spe-standby, reset spe-standby
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Or is it

busy spe-standby
refresh spe-standby
release spe-standby
reset spe-standby 2
reset spe-standby 4

Let me know please, thank you

Commands are example command strings.

These commands are to troubleshoot and investigate software loads, patches, processor serial number, data on flash cards and in memory.
They also provide snapshot status of your duplicated SPE for active and standby, refreshed, etc.

Other commands used to troubleshoot:
display alarm
display error
display error high

Hi AvayaTier3,

I issued all the commands as you advised and they all passed successfully. However, I wasn't able to return SPE A which is the Standby-SPE to it's former software load of R012i.02.0.111.4 and it's serial number which is 057G09228978 please

I have attached screen shots from the system for you to enable you to understand my predicament and may be help me
Thank you in advance

Hi Guys,

Could I have more lights shed on this issue please
Am desperate for a resolution which I strongly believe you can assist me with
I have attached screen shots from the system in question for facilitation purposes
Thanks in advance

NOTE: you must power down carrier to change SPE control circuit packs, then power back up. Hot swapping any of the control packs can blow up anything in the SPE slots. Working on the SPE standby should not affect service. (power down SPE-A will affect port slots in carrier 1A until power up)

The software is burned onto the processor card and the serial number is associated with your Avaya RFA license.
If you put the original processor back in SPE-A and power up, it should have a serial number that matches the circuit pack handle label and the software load should match the SPE-B processor. As stated, the net/pkt was bad causing i/o issues, and power up with the original pack cannot change
the software load based on a previously inserted processor.

If you must use the R011 software version processor, then you need to order and replace it with a processor that matches the other software load.
Using a R012i.02.0.111.4 flashcard would verify the load on the processor and if different would erase the processor then update the processor from the flashcard.

I believe that the processor that is active is the R012 tn2404 that was replaced and the R011 tn2404 is what your
system is licensed for. Both processors were replaced and neither of these match your license.
It appears that SPE-B loaded from SPE-B flash card and upgraded memory from R011i.03.2.536.1 to R012i.02.0.111.4

The fix would be to load from the SPE-A tn2404 processor R011i.03.2.536.1 then replace the SPE-B tn2404 with a matching software version to
fix the software mismatch. NOTE: the SPE-A flash card most likely has R011 translations from 11:00 am FRI MAR 18, 2022 and after an accidental
upgrade to R012, the SPE-B flash card was overwritten when saved and the translations are on R012. You cannot use the SPE-B flash card to load
on a R011 processor. I would take care to write protect each flash card as they are so you do not have major corruption.

After getting both processors on R011, you will need a new license file that contains the serial numbers for the processors installed.
This will fix your software mismatch and license issues and allow duplication to work and saves to work. Customer most likely has backup flashcards.

Hi AvayaTier3,

The processor that is active is the R012 tn2404 in SPE-B that has never been replaced and the R012 load is the one the system is licensed for.

The only processor that was replaced was the one in SPE-A which also had R012 software load before replacement. When I removed the replacement processor which had R011 software load and returned the original one which had R012 previously it miraculously took the software load of the replacement processor which had R011 and also picked its serial number.

It’s the Processor in SPE A which currently has R011 software load and wrong serial number that needs correction back to R012 and the serial number on the circuit pack handle label please, thank you

Please post output from SAT Command: display capacity (last page only - see above)

What is the serial number for the original R012 SPE-A tn2404? - It will be on the handle of the pack.

What happens when you put the original tn2404 in SPE-A and power carrier A back up?

Hi AvayaTier3,

It's the original TN2404 which is there and has been there since we started communicating
I powered it off and powered it back on as you requested
And all the tests passed and finally reset 4 was performed on it
And that's all
Something else, I cannot login while connected to the TERMINAL port on carrier A while I can login when connected to DOT port on the same carrier, hope this helps in the diagnosis
Thank you
