Hey pa902! This is for you!
Have a look at this:

This uses 4 different instances (of two movies - hey adapt it to 9!) on stage mixed with Tell Targets. Gears 2 & 3 are on different layers than gear 1, but gear 4 is called by a tell target on the same layer as gear 1. Try the roll over button(tell targets)... Gear 2 stops, on continuous press gear 3 stops. If you're interested, I'll make the fla available, so you can have a look at it.

It's a bit heavy... 400kb, 'cause of 3d objects, and no preloader... So it might take you a while to download, but I think it's worth it!

;-)

hey old did you do the gears movie? if so much props.
i have bryce 4 (3-d) and was wondering how i can incoperate bryce files into flash. is there a way? if so some help would be appreciated. a tutorial on the gears would be cool also(for all of us flash premies).

Finally! A response! Glad you noticed this, virt2001!

Did this with Ulead's Cool3D. Exported an animated gif that I then imported into Flash. Then the usual stuff...

Don't think I'll write a tutorial... But you can download the .fla, to have a look at it:

I'll be happy to answer any questions afterwards.

ok old thanks for the view.so what your telling me is that to import a annimation, i have to import as a sequence and do all the work my self? ....or am i not understanding?

I don't know Bryce... But you should be able to export as an animated gif, right?
So, same thing with Cool3d...
You create a new synbol in Flash, import the animated gif and bingo... You have an animated movie clip all done.
You can then create illimited instances of this movie that you can manipulate in different ways...
So yes, there still some work to do, position, rotation, tweening, scaling, fading... etc... etc., but you're doing all of this on instances, sort of like manipulating one single frame.
A bit hard 'cause you're doing this on static frames on the stage and to ajust things, you have to go to test mode to see your instances animated, but when you get it right, it's very rewarding!

Do you get it now?

got it...you the man..

So where's my star? Don't be shy!
