Does anyone know how to list Users Rights and permissions to a printer or
file. I use Novell 4.11 and have searched the Manual backwards and
forwards and cannot find instruction as to how to do this. This function
would be very helpful.

hahaha

do at command prompt: f:\ndir /c > test.txt

good luck

Your suggestion was very helpfull but what I really needed was a
listing of each user and their permissions. Can you help me?

I think that you will have to go into the realms of either:

(1) Novell APIs or
(2) any standard backup package that might permit you to backup the NDS and then list it (or transfer to a spreadsheet or whatever).

If you come acroos any solution, please post it.

NDIR works for files. If you do a NDIR /? you will get a help screen with more advanced options. You should then be able to find the owners and trustees of files.

NLIST works for searching NDS. If you do a NLIST PRINTER, and then add some options, you may be able to find the info you are looking for.

Keep in mind that NLIST is complex but powerful. Kinda hard to figure out at first, but gives a lot of information. You also need to make sure what context you are in. Do a "CX" at the command prompt on your workstation and verify you are searching in the right place.
