As already said, there is a big difference between search engines and operating systems. There is also a big difference between office applications and operating
systems.
For all practical purposes, Google already has its own operating system, but is not one applicable to an individual PC. Google has built a cluster and is many ways is re-centralizing the world of computing. Google has a huge custom built cluster computer, massively parallel with thousands of processors, and a huge centralized database. The services being provided include searching, price comparions, gmail, and a host of others. They have a tremendous database of adverters and consumer searching and spending habits.
Do we really Google to provide your basic OS as well? Personally, the last thing I would want is my primary OS to essentially be a glorified Google client. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of MS either, but if you want to talk about a 'big brother', think about how far Google's tenacles already extend.
==> What if Google made an operating system?
Be careful what you wish for.
