I was posed this question and other than a DNS issue I am stumped. A church has a sonic firewall installed with all incoming ports blocked except the obvious i.e. 80, 25, etc..
All computers can access websites except for a new G5 mac. It can only access yahoo, and few other sites. The rest are blocked by the firewall filter software. It is the firewall blocking it.
This church has a duplicate set up to mine except they have one model newer firewall. We have several macs and the identical incoming ports allowed and the remainder blocked.
Spyware maybe....

Could the Mac's built in firewall be conflicting with the sonic one?

You might try going to System Preferences/Sharing/Firewall and click on Stop to disable the Mac firewall and see it that works. You can diddle around with turning it on/off for certain services if you want.
