HelpDesk / IT Inventory Mgmt packages

We are currently using Intuit's Track-IT for IS Helpdesk work orders and are increasingly unhappy with the functionality, maintenance etc. of the package. We've given up on the library and inventory management parts of the program as well.

What other packages are people using and what are your opinions of them? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with Helpdesk. What functionality are you looking to replace? Problem tracking, inventory management, patch management, etc. ?

Helpdesk functions. Work-orders, problem tickets, etc.

In the past we were using an in-house app we developed on top of Lotus Notes. Simple yet functional. Recently we switched over to Remedy Action Request ( There is a steep learning curve with this system, but overall it seems pretty good.

There is a free app out there call Trouble Ticket Express ( If you've got some time, or someone with good html/asp skills, then I suggest you give this a look.

we have been using two products by layton technologies

helpbox is a great web based helpdesk software and audit wizard is a great package for keeping track of hardware and software on the network.
