good day!!!!!
My problem started suddenly,
with the maxtor 40g HD started my computer but my bios coundn't recognize the HD, something that didn't append before.
i took the HD and put it on another computer in slave mode
and bios recognize it as "maxtorARES C64K VAM53Ja2"
while it's blinking.

what is the problem
please help

Sounds like the controller card on the drive has gone bad and is putting garbage out on the IDE cable in such a way that the CMOS can't recognize it.
