Hello, I just purchased a PIX 506e. I am unable to get outbound access and surf the web. My External interface is going to be use for PAT for all internal traffic going out. My upstream router is 65.114.136.193. Anyone have a clue as to what I am doing wrong? Its probably something obvious?

Thanks!

I've flushed the ARP Cache on the upstream router, since I had an issue with that before.

What is the default gateway configured on the PCs? It should be 10.10.100.1

Yes, the desktops are set up properly. I am able to ping the e0/0 and s0/0 interfaces on the upstream router, but I cannot ping them from a host on the private network. I am unable to ping anything from the router using FQDN's either

I don't see any access lists on your configuration...you need something like this.

access-list inside_access_in permit tcp any eq eq www

Also, I don't think Cisco allows private hosts ping anything outside the e0/0 interface on the PIX by default. Hence if you wanted to ping google.com, it would like like its failing.

If you are trying to ping then you definately need an access list:

access-list 101 permit icmp any any echo-reply
access-group 100 in interface outside

The link below explains how the PIX handles ICMP traffic:

You will never be able to ping FQDNs from the PIX only IP addresses. From the PIX are you able to ping an Internet address? Say Cisco's for example: 198.133.219.25
