I am trying to print to a HP3100 printer that has worked for 4 yrs. with not problem. When I go to print it says "ltp1 error" the port is already in use. What is using it and how do I fix this. Windows 98 and laptop.

Thanks
Marty

If the laptop is using a docking station for the LPT port, the printer might not be able to communicate properly as many of these types of ports doen`t allow bi-directional communication with a printer. The same problems might occur if a printer switch is being used beteen the printer and laptop. Check in the driver under ports if it`s enabled and perhaps in BIOS too.
