At work, I work on a DSL wan with a satic IP.(for printing). And, about 3 days a week I bring my system home, where I use WinGate for internet sharing. I run W2K. Is there some way to use 2 IP adresses from the same Nic card, or would it be easier to change IP at home? I can set up both networks in my sleep, I've changed the numbers so many times. I need to find a plug and go solution.

norton makes a porgram called modile esst. which does it. So long and thanks for all the fish.

My suggestion would be to use the same network type (class c,b or a) at home as at work. Say for instance you have a class c network at work, it would consist of the following ip address 192.168.0.2-254 where 0 can go from 1-255 (I believe) and it has a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 . If you were to setup the address on your home network in a similar manor, then you could simply plug your work computer into your lan. You mention that you used wingate to share internet access. How is that box connected to your lan and the internet? Does it have two nics? A nic and a modem? Actually it doesn't really matter as wingate takes the internal traffic and routes it to the outside under the one ip address that your isp provides.

Alternatively, you can simply change the ip and subnet mask each time. I believe win2K can do this without rebooting the machine so it is probably very easy to do.

Good Luck...

fenris, the w2k is a client onthe wingate system. I changed my home IP to the one at work. everything online, running fine. My home IP is something like 208.161.61.x and submask is 255.255.255.248.
