Hi, I am a IT guy and have been hired to get this Aloha/ Radiant Systems POS working. It is from another business. They purchased an updated key or something before I arrived on this job. It was like $800 or something. Anyway, There is one terminal and one Back office comp and 3 printers. I have the terminal and the BO comp connected via cat5. When you start the table service on the terminal it says it can't find a fileserver and says "CTLSVR: Security key not found" and gives you a button to make a fileserver you click it and it wants a password which we don't know. I have no idea what to do. Thanks for your time. Links.

Did you make sure the security key is connected to the back office computer?

If that doesn't work, try connecting the security key on the terminal. A security key MUST be connected to either the terminal or the back office computer, otherwise Aloha won't run.

Also, check to make sure your security values are set correctly in Aloha Manager. Log on, go to Maintenance -> Store Settings -> System -> Licensing tab. Check to make sure the values here match the values on the sheet you got with the new security key.

What version of Aloha are you using?

As Mitchell posted, try that, it's a good start. I hope it works because what you described can turn out to be extremely easy or insanely difficult without Aloha knowledge.

I can tell you that the "Make Fileserver" screen you are getting is not something you want to deal with. The password is easy but it would be unethical for me to tell you how to figure the password. Basically the "make fileserver" screen is only meant for redundancy for an already properly configured system. This would do you no good.
