I had a BSD shutdown on xp (had random shutdowns due to acpi) But now XP will not boot fully. It looks like it will, I get to the start of my desktop, the wallpaper shows up, I hear the sound (windows startup sound), then the blue welcome screen pops up, and then I hear the shutdown sound, finally stopping to my logon screen. I click on my logon icon and it then goes through this loop all again.
I can boot fine to safemode under my logon and admin.
Any Ideas????

While in safe mode try using the Last Known Good Configuration option.

If no luck with this try using System Restore to get back in time to when it would load.

If you enter your Bios you can set it up to do a step by step loading and it might give you a clue if something is wrong here.

Also while in Bios have you the option to create a Boot Log to see if everything loads correctly?

Run System File Checker (SFC.exe) incase some System File is corrupt.
