Hello,

Need some assistance if possible...I do aplogize for the length of this question.. I just wanted to include everything.... We have an old Sparserver 20 running Solaris 2.6.... The server boots up and all file systems are mounted as normal.... But when it boots up I see the following WARNINGS(error?) messages on the screen...

Oct 14 09:16:04 hawkeye unix: WARNING: /iommu@f,e0000000/sbus@f,e0001000/espdma@f,400000/esp@f,800000 (esp0):
Oct 14 09:16:04 hawkeye unix: Connected command timeout for Target 0.0
Oct 14 09:16:04 hawkeye unix: WARNING: /iommu@f,e0000000/sbus@f,e0001000/espdma@f,400000/esp@f,800000 (esp0):
Oct 14 09:16:04 hawkeye unix: Target 0.0 reducing sync. transfer rate

It seems like the Target changes also as the Warnings reappear.... Not sure whats going on here.... I changed my SCSI cables thinking they maybe old.... I also put another SCSI contoller in the SparcServer 20 Box.... All that did was change my Warnings to reflect (esp2) instead of (esp0)
for example:
WARNING: /iommu@f,e0000000/sbus@f,e0001000/espdma@f,400000/esp@f,800000 (esp2)....
The SCSI controller that I was using was on the main board....

This is the way my drives are set up...Have a FastWide SCSI controller on the Server box with a cable going to a 6 Pack UltraSCSI Hard drive Box which contains 6 18 GB hard drives which are raid 0... The 6 pack Ultra SCSI box is daisy chained with a DLT Tape Drive.... NOW THE OTHER DRIVES AND THIS IS WHERE I THINK MY PROBLEM IS are SET UP THIS WAY...Have a SCSI cable going from the Server box board to a Falcon 4 GB hard drive(my swap)... The falcon drive is daisy chained with narrow to wide scsi cable to a 9gb hard drive... This 9gb hard drive is daisy chained with a DLT Tape Drive... The DLt tape drive is daisy chained with another 9gb ultra scsi hard drive... One last thing... Should the power light on my last hard drive described above go off and then back on when rebooting...??

Here is a my /var/adm/messages file:

THANKS FOR ANY HELP OR COMMENTS

reducing sync. transfer rate

this is usually caused by different rpm drives being on the same bus. What happens is the drives will slow down to the slowest drive. So if you have 7200 and 10000 rpm drives they will reduce to 7200. Also I would try to put your tape drives at the end of the chain.

Thanks
