Someone vanished on me, and I'm left with a P5 that has a pair of upgraded VIO servers, but no networking configuration. Setting up that particular area isn't something I'm totally comfortable with, or familiar with, so I'll lay out the whole situation.
I have one P5, with a pair of VIOs. Each VIO has 2 gigabit ethernet cards, etherchanneled into a primary and backup configuration. As I understand it, each card somehow has its own IP, but the "backup" IP is not pingable unless the primary interface fails. Each VIO then presents a VLAN to the LPARs, the first VIO present VLAN 2, and the second VIO presenting VLAN 3. Each LPAR has a virtual NIC on both VLAN 2 and VLAN 3, which are etherchanneled again in a primary/backup role. In short, it's designed to be tolerant against any individual card failure, cable failure, or complete VIO failure.
The LPARs I can deal with. It's the VIOs that I don't know how to set everything up for.
I've tried extracting configuration information from the working P5 to try to mirror the config, but I don't think I'm getting everything I need to know. For example, each physical interface has an IP associated with it, with one per VIO pingable, the other not pingable. I can't find where these IPs are assigned, and therefore don't know where to put them in a new config.
So, is there a quick and easy way to build the same configuration on my other P5's VIOs? Assume the complete virtual networking config on the P5/VIO's is gone, and all there is is a pair of VIO servers each with a pair of unconfigured gigabit NICs.
