can anyone help if more info is needed let me know

historically, motherboards with integrated didn't support the use of add-on video cards, and the ones that did were often rather buggy. Maybe times have changed, I don't know.

The first thing I would do is bug someone you know to test that card in their machine just to verify that the card is good. If the card works there, the only additional advice I can give is to quadruple check the motherboard is set to allow an add-on video card properly, and if so, either contact HP or search their site for any similar troubles / solutions.

And hey, maybe you'll get lucky and someone else here knows more about HP motherboards.

Check if the BIOS setting "Primary video device" is set to AGP.

Thank you Dakota81, HP support is the worst thing Ive ever seen.

Kocky, when i was trying to get the card set up i did go into the bios and set the "primary video device to" agp/onboard and reset up the card, fired up the system, turned on the computer but with the monitor pluged into the onboard everything came on fine (when i pluged it in the new card first i got only a monitor message of "freqency too high") so i pluged the monitor into the new card and i got monitior life but all i could see was my wallpaper no icons or taskbar so i think im getting close any idea what to do from there.

My only question is that why do i set the bios to agp/onboard when the card is pci? It did seem to help. Im just wondering. I like the computer world and what all the knowledge i can get.

I'm sorry. I thought you had a AGP card.
What you have to do is:

- Go into the BIOS and disable your onboard video.
- Make sure you set the setting "Primary video device" to
PCI.
- Make sure you set the setting "P&P OS" to enabled.
- Connect your monitor to the GeForce 4 card.
- Boot up your system in normal mode.

If this doesn't work then boot up your system in safe-mode.
When in safe-mode install the GeForce 4 drivers by running the installation cd. Now reboot your system. It should start in normal mode and your GeForce 4 card should be installed by windows.

Good luck.

Ok ill give it a try! Ill let you know if this works

kocky, No such luck! But i did find that the card requires min of 350 watts power supply mine is 150 watts! Is this why the monitor said please check signal, because the card had no power?

Do you have the power socket of the monitor connected on the power supply of your pc?
If so then connect the monitor on a normal power socket.
I'm not sure if a video card requires a certain power supply. I do know that motherboards require a minimum amount of watts.

Kocky, No the powercord for the monitor is pluged in right.
What the box that the card is in say minimum of 350 watt power supply. My powersupply is 150 watts. I looked at the tag on the unit itself. So i ordeer a new power supply of 400 watts! hopefully that will work

My computer seems to be dead!?!?! Its shut down on me and wont come back on! I didnt do anthing to it. I was waiting for the powersupply. Please help.
